A GCE O-Level Certificate must contain not less than 6 subjects passed with credit if it is to be of use to students when searching for a job, promotion or entry to advanced studies. Students do not have to sit and pass all the six at once. Students will be issued a
certificate for any subject they pass but it is only when they have passed six subjects in all that they can be recognised as a fully fledged GCE person.

Assessment is by examination.
